December 21 features a rare and beautiful conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn -- and you can watch the planets grow closer each night until then. Look to the west just after sunset. Jupiter will be the brightest light in the sky, with golden Saturn to the east. By the Winter Solstice, the two planets may appear to shine as a single star.
We need all the light we can get to drive out 2020's darkness. I've begun listening to Christmas carols far too early and have a new artificial tree on order -- anything to add a spark of joy as the year ends. If the spirit moves you, festively decorate the outside of your home to share some love with others -- a driving tour of a favorite neighborhood is one way we can safely enjoy the yuletide season.

Kitchen Magic With Evan Lionhart
Send Some Love With Fixed Pumpkin Spice Sugar Hearts!
Who couldn’t use a little extra love and money these days? With the holidays right around the corner, I thought I’d share a recipe for a sweet, magical treat that will bless your friends and family with money, love, blessings, and protection. Since Thanksgiving for many represents community and cohesion, this recipe can be adjusted for our vegetarian and vegan loved ones to enjoy as well!
Pumpkin Spice Sugar Hearts
Yields about 20 cookies.
You Will Need:
1/2 cup butter (If you are vegan, substitute with applesauce, almond butter, or coconut oil)
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
1 cup white sugar separated into 1/2 cups
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup pumpkin puree
1 1/2 all-purpose flour (sub up to 1/3 whole-wheat pastry)
1/2 tbsp arrowroot powder (for thickening/binding)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp anise seed
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp unsweetened almond or oat milk
Start by bringing the butter or applesauce to room temperature in a large mixing bowl. Mix for about a minute with a hand mixer. Pray over the brown sugar, white sugar (1/2 cup) and vanilla that all who eat these cookies find sweetness and love in their homes and hearts. Mix these into the butter or sauce along with some pumpkin puree which draws in money. Mix until smooth and set aside.
Using a saucepan, heat some of the Anise seeds in the almond or oat milk on a low heat for about three minutes. Anise lends protection to keep your loved ones safe. Try not to scald the milk or let it boil over. Once the time is up, take it off the heat, strain out the seeds and set aside.
Using a sifter, sift your arrowroot powder (attracts good luck), salt (protective), cinnamon (brings luck in money and love), flour, baking powder and baking soda into the bowl with the butter. Use your mixing spoon to stir the strained milk into the batter mix. As you do this, stir clockwise praying as you go. You may pray Psalm 23 while you do this as it said to “cover all conditions.”
 Once everything is mixed into a soft dough, cover bowl with cling wrap and set in fridge for 30 minutes. While dough rests, set oven to 375 and preheat for 30 minutes. Form ping-pong sized dough balls on parchment lined or greased baking tray. If using a cookie cutter, use a glass bottom to press dough in circles before cutting out. Mix the remaining half cup of sugar with Pumpkin Spice mix, to attract money, and dust each heart. Leave room between cookies so they don’t smoosh.
Bake your hearts for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Once cooled, these can be further frosted (should you choose), or wrapped in a decorative box and sent to your loved ones! They may also be kept in the freezer for up to a month, should you want more for your next holiday.

This year is slightly different and that is putting it mildly. Covid- 19 is worse now than it was when it first started. As the government struggles to get this nerve-wrecking situation under control, we must use wisdom in all that we do. Don’t take your situation for granted. Protect your family by sticking to the program of safety first. Faith in the Lord is not a warrant to ignore common sense. Unfortunately, we do not know what our loved ones have picked up in other environments or what we may pick up and bring into their environment. We must understand and take into consideration the health and wellbeing of our family and household. Social distancing is of great importance. This is the time to take full advantage of the wonders that modern technology provides us, such as Zoom, Skype, Facetime, Video Chat, and other means of communication. This will allow everyone to be included in the holiday festivities, no matter where they are. We can not stress enough the importance of safety. This is the time to be selfless and understanding.
Another thing to think about is steering clear of family foolishness. We have to embrace and love one another. Couples need to stick and stay together. Be an example to your children of how to maintain a healthy relationship. Love and hold your kids close. Children, both grown and young, remember to love and respect your parents and your siblings because time waits for no one. Instead of fussing and fighting and separating, why not put that same bull-headed energy into staying together and fighting for better communication. Fight to keep outside negative energy away from your domain. Fight for positive growth. Together you stand. Divided you fall. The world is going through a hellish period and we never know what the next day, hour or minute will bring. Stay humble and appreciate one another -- and remember that there is always someone in a worse position than you.

One tealight
One Guardian Angel Candle
One glass of Sugar Water
Guardian Angel Oil
Your list of family members and the names of their Guardian Angels.
Herb Mix:
Angelica Root for Protection
Bay Leaves for Protection
Lovage for Love
Deer’s Tongue for Communication
Mint to stimulate the mind and make good decisions
Basil for Protection and Peace
Lavender for Peace
Boneset for Protection and Health
Instructions:
1. Cleanse your area with Mama Vergi’s Cleansing & Uncrossing Spray or a good Florida Water.
2. Write a petition on keeping the family together, protected, and in good health. Dress the Petition paper with a pinch of the herb mixture and 8 small drops of Guardian Angel Oil. Fold towards you and place under your light house.
3. Anoint your list of family names and their Guardian Angels with the Guardian Angel oil and a pinch of the herb mixture. Place the list of your family members and the names of their Guardian Angel under the dressed Guardian Angel Candle that is loaded with the same oil and pinch of herbs. Your Guardian Angel candle should be placed next to your miniature Light House.
4. Place the small cup of sugar water next to your Guardian Angel candle to feed them.
5. Dress your tealight with a drop of the Guardian Angel oil and a pinch of the herb mixture.
6. Place the tealight inside of the Light House.
7. Light you Guardian Angel Candle and give thanks for their protection and duty.
8. Light your tealight inside of your Light House so that your family will always find the light and always find their way home.
